The Nano-Hole Architecture

Encapsulated aluminum nano-holes are engineered to allow wavelengths of 950 nanometers or smaller to pass through into the absorber — that's the energy-producing visible light. Wavelengths above 950nm (infrared/heat) are reflected away. Additional microstructures use Total Internal Reflection to trap and maximize the visible light that does pass through.
