Everything you need to know about Cold Fusion™ technology, the installation process, and partnering with EnviroChill.

Cold Fusion™ is a patented refractive film developed by our manufacturing partner that is applied directly to existing solar panels. It uses nano-hole technology — encapsulated aluminum structures engineered at the wavelength level — to selectively reflect infrared (heat-producing) radiation while allowing visible (energy-producing) light to pass through and be trapped by the absorber layer. The result is panels that run significantly cooler and produce more energy over their lifetime.
Cold Fusion™ can improve solar panel efficiency by up to 35%. The actual gain depends on your local climate, panel age, system type, and orientation. Systems in high-heat markets like Arizona, Florida, and Southern California tend to see the greatest improvements because heat suppression is most significant where ambient temperatures and solar irradiance are highest.
Cold Fusion™ reduces panel operating temperature by more than 50°F. A typical Arizona rooftop panel running at 149°F on a summer afternoon can drop to approximately 99°F after film application. Every 10°C reduction in operating temperature corresponds to roughly a 0.4–0.5% increase in efficiency — and that reduction in thermal stress dramatically slows long-term degradation.
The nano-holes in Cold Fusion™ film are engineered to allow wavelengths of 950 nanometers or smaller to enter the absorber (that's the energy-producing visible light spectrum). Wavelengths greater than 950nm — the infrared heat spectrum — are reflected away. Additional microstructures use Total Internal Reflection (TIR) to further trap and maximize the visible light that passes through. The result: 85–90% of IR reflected, and 90%+ of visible light transmission maintained.
We recommend reviewing your specific panel manufacturer's warranty terms before installation. Our team works with installers to ensure application follows best practices that protect the existing installation. Contact us for guidance specific to your panel brand and model.
Cold Fusion™ film is applied directly to the surface of existing solar panels without any panel disassembly or system shutdown (beyond standard safety protocols). A trained EnviroChill-approved partner applies the film during a standard service visit. A typical residential system of 20 panels can be completed in a single visit.
Systems five years or older present the most compelling value proposition — they have accumulated thermal stress and efficiency loss that Cold Fusion™ can partially reverse, and their owners have the most to gain from life extension. That said, any system from new to older installations can also benefit, particularly in high-heat climates where preventing degradation is valuable in both extending the panels' realistic generation time, or improving the panels' output efficiency.
Cold Fusion™ film is compatible with standard residential and commercial monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon panels. Contact us or your EnviroChill installer partner to confirm compatibility for specific panel models, particularly for thin-film or bifacial systems.
EnviroChill partners exclusively with established solar installers and O&M providers on a territory-exclusive basis. One installer partner per DMA or city-based territory. Partners commit to minimum purchase orders and receive training, QA protocols, sales playbooks, B2C pitch assets, and co-marketing support. EnviroChill handles fulfillment and logistics (to the partner's warehouse); the installer sells and applies the retrofit to their customer base.
Wholesale film pricing is based on purchase volume. A typical 20-panel residential job costs the installer less than $2,000 in materials. The installer then retails the complete retrofit service to the homeowner at MSRP, capturing additional margin on labor and service. Gross margin on materials can run 50–64% before channel or government incentives.
Contact us through the form on our Contact page, or email info@envirochill.co directly. We prioritize installers with established customer bases of 500+ past installs, great reviews, and existing service operation capabilities. Given our territory exclusivity model, we encourage qualified installers to reach out early — territories are allocated on a first-qualified, first-served basis.
EnviroChill is launching in Florida, Arizona, and Southern California — three of the highest-solar-density US markets with the most compelling retrofit opportunity. Expansion to additional US states and the EU (Germany-first) is planned in subsequent phases.
Cold Fusion™ is developed and manufactured by our manufacturing partner, a US-based advanced materials company specializing in nano-optic film technologies. The manufacturer holds multiple patents covering the film's nano-hole architecture and manufacturing process. EnviroChill holds the exclusive US Master Distribution Agreement for the solar panel application, based on our existing equity interest in the manufacturing partner.
Cold Fusion™ is sold through our exclusive installer partner network — homeowners access it through their original installer or an EnviroChill-certified partner in their area. This ensures proper installation and quality control. To find a certified installer in your area, contact us and we'll connect you.
